Of course you don’t have a budget for AI…

One of the most common blockers we have found when talking to organisations about the potential use cases of AI for them is that while yes, they are super-interested to find out more, there is nothing allocated in the budget for this.

This is no surprise: with the advent of the new era of AI still under a year old and with budgetary cycles often running into two or three years ahead, this new technology has caught many people off-guard and even unsure of whether the spend is worth it.

Certainly many larger, multi-national companies seem to have decided that the time is right to spend heavily on AI (although I do have verbatim knowledge of a household name company who is training its staff by just using LinkedIn videos).

Use cases

Before we commit to any agreement with any small or medium business, we make sure there is value to be found. And by value we don’t just mean helping with AI policy or understanding ethics, but by real-world situations  as part of our AI Opps service. This is when we look at the various pinpoints across each department and see if there any time- and cost-saving practical uses of AI to be found. For example:

  • One company discovered that transcribing interviews, creating reports on them and generating basic versions of blogs saved up to 20 hours of work per month.
  • A media company saved on expensive VoiceOver re-takes by recreating voiceovers inexpensively (this cannot yet be done convincingly for long tracts but for short inserts it’s usually fine).
  • A charity found some pointers and accountability it had not been aware of regarding its EDI policy: a ‘softer’ skill to assess financially but still one of great value to them.

In short – use cases will vary from company to company, department to department and person to person. That’s what we love doing – helping organisations to find these timesaving and cost-saving mechanisms.

Free trial

We understand the complexities of starting down the AI route – most people have enough to think about getting on with their own jobs or managing their departments or teams. It can be overwhelming, full of uncertainties and just another thing to add to the never-ending list of tasks.

That’s why we like the idea of a free trial. We’re working with several companies on this basis – with commercial terms only being agreed once both sides think there is value to be gained.
